Eurasian Countries Welcome Magyar’s Election Win in Hungary

(MENAFN) Several Eurasian leaders, including officials from Belarus, Moldova, Armenia, and Georgia, have congratulated opposition figure Peter Magyar and his party, Tisza, following their reported victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections, signaling intentions to maintain and strengthen relations with Budapest.

Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko welcomed the result and emphasized continuity in ties between the two countries, stressing that long-standing relations should be preserved.

He said “traditions of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation that have developed over many years between Minsk and Budapest must continue.”

Lukashenko also expressed hope that Hungary would continue to maintain a pragmatic international stance focused on stability and mutual respect among nations.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu similarly welcomed the outcome, stating that Chișinău aims to deepen cooperation with Hungary and build on existing ties to support a more resilient and unified Europe.

In addition, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze congratulated Magyar and his party, while also acknowledging outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for what he described as years of support for Georgia’s national interests.

He emphasized that relations between Georgia and Hungary are rooted in a long-standing partnership that will continue into the future, according to remarks shared on social media.

The responses highlight regional interest in maintaining diplomatic and economic cooperation with Hungary following the electoral shift.
